PARS‑UBI is a sterile, non‑pyrogen lyophilized radiopharmaceutical kit for the preparation of 99mTc‑UBI, used for the diagnosis of infections. Each vial contains 50 µg of lyophilized HYNIC‑Ubiquicidin, which, after radiolabeling with Tc‑99m, is administered intravenously and is intended solely for diagnostic use. The resulting radiopharmaceutical, through selective binding to bacteria, helps differentiate bacterial infections from sterile inflammation in SPECT imaging.
HYNIC‑Ubiquicidin (UBI) is a synthetic peptide with a positive charge (cationic) that exhibits specific affinity for binding to the negatively charged cell wall of bacteria in infectious areas. This property allows it to be used for identifying the site of infection. After injection, 99mTc‑UBI binds to infectious foci in the body and accumulates at sites where bacteria are present, enabling detection and imaging of microbial infections.
